It started with a steak dinner my grandfather never finished.
I was ten years old, sitting at our family table, when I watched him quietly push his plate away. He said he wasn't hungry. He was lying. He'd tried to cut into the steak, felt his lower denture shift, and decided — in that split second — that it was safer to stop eating than to risk it slipping in front of his grandchildren.
That was the last time I ever saw him order steak.
Over the next six years, I watched a man who used to fill every room with his voice shrink into silence. Soup. Mashed potatoes. Anything that didn't require a real bite. He stopped going to Sunday dinners at friends' houses. He stopped laughing with his mouth open. Nobody talked about it directly — it was the kind of thing families just quietly work around — but I knew what was happening. He wasn't losing his appetite. He was losing his confidence, one meal at a time.
I went into chemical engineering first, then dentistry — because I wanted to actually fix the problem, not just watch people manage it.
What I found, once I started practicing, was that my grandfather's story wasn't unique. It was almost universal. Millions of people wearing dentures were making the same quiet trade every single day: give up real food, real laughter, real spontaneity — or risk the embarrassment of a slip in public. So I started over. Working out of a small lab in Ohio, I spent four years testing formulations — 422 of them — looking for a material that didn't just glue a denture down, but actually conformed to the mouth the way a professional clinical reline does, without the $400+ price tag or the trip to the dentist's chair.
The breakthrough was ThermoBond: a medical-grade PVA matrix that softens in warm water, is pressed onto the denture, and then uses nothing but the wearer's own body heat to mold into a custom, airtight seal. No chemical bonding agents. No zinc. Just physics, done right.
The day I handed my grandfather the first working prototype, he ordered steak without asking me if it was a good idea. He ate every bite. He laughed with his mouth open for the first time in years. That moment is the entire reason this company exists.
